COOPER MONUMENT | Cleaning
The memory of loved ones, forever etched in stone and immortalized in bronze are meant to bring peace and comfort, knowing their legacy shall endure. However, organic matter such as pollen, moss, algae, lichen, soot, and soil creep in and lie upon these stones and nestle in the crevices of such beautiful engravings.
If opting to clean your own memorial please remember:
-
Preservation is the key.
-
Some stones can deteriorate from certain cleaning methods. If you are not sure, ask one of our trained Preservation specialists.
-
Make sure the stone is secure and protect the area around the stone from the cleaning process.
-
Only use solutions specifically designed for the stone (pH neutral is best). Common cleaning detergents are not appropriate.
-
Clean from bottom to top to avoid staining the stone.
-
Rinse, rinse, rinse with low pressure water only.
-
Using a soft nylon bristle brush reduces any permanent marks into the stone.
-
If you have a doubt, consult with one of our Stone Preservation specialists to schedule a cleaning.
To ensure the best results and optimal care of any stone, we offer a gentle power washing, along with an application of a biologic reducing solution to break up any organic matter and reduce future residue from growing. We have found the best results come during warmer months, and we plan accordingly with the weather to focus during spring, summer, and autumn months.
